Simple Golf Training Aids

There are many types of golf training aids on the market, ranging from the very simple to the complex golf swing plane trainers, those large circular things that you see at many practice ranges. For the average golfer, the simpler training aids are sufficient to give you a good workout and stay fit for golf.

Fitness for golf is not like the fitness you get in a gym. Pumping iron and treading treadmills do not improve your golf game. The exercises have to build up your rotational strength, and work on the muscles used in your golf swing. They should also include stretching workouts to improve the flexibility of your joints and muscles.

There is no need to buy expensive training aids for this, or even to join a gym. There is a lot of inexpensive equipment that can be used, the dearest of which will probably be a weighted golf club. In order to strengthen all the muscles that you use during your swing, you are best to swing against a resistance. A weighted golf club is the easiest way to provide that resistance, and is a popular means of strengthening your swing, and so improving your distance.

You can also do it with a single dumbbell or a medicine ball. Hold it in both hands and swing with it. This is just as effective. Another inexpensive training aid is a length of exercise or resistance tubing. Fix this to a door or wall and swing holding it in your hands. You can get various strength ratings of tubing, and it is very good for a wide range of strength-related exercises.

simple flexibility exercises can be carried out by holding a weighted medicine ball. Sitting straight up on a chair, hold the ball straight out in front of you then twist to the left as far as you can. Hold it for few seconds then twist to the right. A few repetitions a day and you will notice that you are swinging your gold club a lot easier and without any aching joints or muscles. As you get fitter you can increase the weight of the ball.

You can even improvise if you dont want to spend any money on golf training aids. Al you need is something with a bit of weight in it. A heavy rock can be used in place of the medicine ball, and you can tie some weighs to your golf club to increase its weight. All you need is some resistance to your normal swing, and there are a whole load of flexibility exercises you can carry out without any equipment whatsoever. A few twists with a golf club across your shoulder will loosen up your shoulder, back and abdominal muscles, and you can also do the same thing sitting down.

There are plenty of proprietary training aids available on the market such as laser systems that ensure that your stance is correct, with your feet in the right place. many of these are below $100 though the more expensive systems can also provide a trace of your swing arc, and the direction the ball would take. There are specially designed balls that you hold between your arms to keep them correctly positioned in the swing. These enable you to improve your swing mechanics for extra power and length.

If you want to pay a bit more, you can purchase a hinged driver that helps you to swing with the correct tempo and in the correct plane. Once you get it right, your muscle memory develops and you eventually find yourself swinging correctly shot after shot without having to think of it. You can concentrate on other aspects of your game without worrying about your swing. Wouldnt it be great if your swing was spot on every time?

Although simple training aids like the hinged clubs are not necessarily inexpensive, most are, and a four foot resistance tube fitted with handles can be purchased online for less than $10. Hows that for inexpensive! Weighted medicine balls range from around $10 for a 1 Kg ball to over $30 for 5 Kg balls. Thats still pretty inexpensive. So, as you can see, some excellent golf training aids are available at very affordable prices.

OK, you can get the crme de la crme equipment, but is it really needed? All you need is some swing resistance to build up your strength in the swing, and to help stretch those muscles, so that you can store energy in your backswing, much like a stretched elastic band, ready to release explosively in your swing, and hammer that ball 300 yards straight down the fairway. A $10 aid will do that just as well as its $100 equivalent.

Nintendo Wii Brings The Gym To You With Wii Fit

nintendo has announced a new fitness game Wii Fit which is a full on exercise product set to give you more of a workout than Wii sports, while still retaining all the fun of gaming. Wii Fit will help to keep you physically fit via a dedicated peripheral, a wireless balance board which comes with the game. There are over 40 different activities, including hula hooping, ski jumping and heading soccer balls.

The hula hooping consists of, as youd expect, gyrating your hips with a virtual hoop onscreen and then as the game progresses, characters will throw more hoops for you to catch and rotate as many times as you can until the time runs out.

The skiing game gives you two chances to make the longest jump you can whilst keeping your balance when landing. Players can increase speed by leaning forward, the more you lean the faster youll go, and upon reaching the jump, you stand up straight ensuring your weight is evenly balanced for a good landing.

For the football game, you will need to balance on the board moving from side to side whilst balls are fired at you to hit back on to the field and avoiding other objects that are thrown at you at the same time.

Training falls into 4 categories: Aerobics, muscle conditioning, yoga and balance games. Players can assign their height to a profile to measure body mass index and Wii fitness age as well as monitor progress and record performance statistics.

The calorie busting fun could appeal to couch potato kids as well a non gamers, perhaps using the nintendo Wii as a slimming tool which would be a move into the lifestyle category rather than gaming, covering the market from another angle.

nintendo hasn't given a release date yet for Wii Fit, although its thought to hit the highstreet in early 2008.

Begin Weight Training To Lower Blood Sugar

As we get older our bodies change. Our hormonal system produces less of the hormones than it did in our teens or twenties. Our metabolism, in most cases, slow down. Our body and its defenses become more vulnerable to outside stresses. But, during this time in life, our stresses seem to grow exponentially. We are going place with our careers. We have families. These families have demands on us physically and psychologically. Homes, automobiles, vacations, as well as many other thing s add to the stress load. This creates a downward spiral for our health. That is, unless we take measures to counteract the stresses that affect us daily.

We must eat healthy. We must supplement our diet with vitamins, minerals, and herbals which are appropriate for our age and our current health and stress situations. We must somehow learn to manage our stress. And we must exercise to keep our bodies healthy and vital. Doing theses things will help us manage stress and keep us younger. These will help cancel the negative effects on our bodies, caused by stress.

Lets see how this affects a person afflicted with diabetes, in particular. We are going to narrow it down to the exercise factor. We will even narrow it more to just weight training. Everyone knows, or is in denial, that exercise can only be beneficial in diabetes care. The importance of weight training has not been emphasized enough to the diabetic world. Let us address this.

As we get older, our bodies change, unless we act to prevent that change. after the age of 30 years, our body adds one pound of fat each year. Not only that, but we lose about one-half pound of lean tissue mass (muscle ) each year. Add these up and we gain 15 pounds of fat every 10 years. This is preventable. This is the reason for weight training.

A study at the University of Southern california was conducted on teens who were at high risk for type II diabetes. The study was conducted for a sixteen week period. They were divided into two groups. Group A had weight training twice a week for the test period. Group B had no changes to their lifestyle. All of the subjects were overweight and had symptoms of insulin resistance. The results are rather dramatic. At the end of the study, Group A had increased insulin sensitivity by 45%. Group B had a 1% decrease in insulin sensitivity.

Muscle is a major factor in clearance of circulating blood glucose. As lean body mass increases, greater amounts of blood glucose are cleared from the blood. Muscle tissue takes in the blood glucose and stores it as glycogen. And even cooler, the greater the proportion of muscle mass to fat, the more calories are burned at rest. And weight training further increases metabolism, even after working out.

How does one accomplished this superb state of being? It is achieved by incorporating a weight training program into your lifestyle. The American diabetes Association suggests a minimum of weight training twice a week. Target at least two major muscle groups. Perform 8 to 12 repetitions per set, and 4 to 6 sets per muscle group. There are tons of information available on the subject. All the muscle magazines have an ongoing section for beginners. Or you can find information on the internet. For your sake do it, and do it now. It can only help.

Remember, if you have diabetes, Eat a snack prior to workings out. Hydrate during and after working out. Check your blood sugar level before and after working out to prevent any episodes of hypoglycemia.
